User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 When I click on or type in the above website address, nothing happens and then a window pops up saying that it 'timed out' without connecting to the website. it's the only website that I've found that does that. it happens EVERY time, going on about 3-4 weeks now. I contacted the website and I'm the only one they know of with the problem. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Either click from another link or type in the address. 2.Hit enter. 3.wait, and it times out. Actual Results: Nothing. Expected Results: I would expect it to take me to the home page of the website.

Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8b2) Gecko/20050503 Firefox/1.0+ That URL WFM. You probably need to check the FAQ sheet and other troubleshooting resources for Firefox.

WFM Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050419 Firefox/1.0.4 While I agree with the others that you probably have an altered hosts file, I can't help but notice you're on Firefox 1.0. I highly suggest you upgrade to 1.0.3, the latest version, and try accessing the site again. Not that 1.0 has any problems accessing it, but that 1.0 is outdated.

Do you know if I can fix the 'altered hosts file?' If so, how would I go about doing that? I did upgrade to the latest version (1.0.3), but I still can't access the site. Is there any other suggestion out there for me to try? (I have contacted the owners of the web site, they've never had any complaints like mine, nor do they know what to do to fix it! I have also contacted my service provider [ROGERS HIGHSPEED INTERNET] and they don't have any idea why I can't access the web site [www.chapters.indigo.ca] either!) UGH!!! Any suggestions would be very much appreciated! Thank you all for your assistance! Respectfully, Nigel.

This is wfm and a local problem and you failed to answer the question in comment#1. Bugzilla is not for support question, please use the mozillazine.org Forum for that.

Although I would have emailed this, I feel its best so that others can link to this bug in case of something like this happening again. In newer versions of windows (such as XP, which you are on), you can open this file in Wordpad/Notepad: C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\HOSTS Look to see if there's anything more than the 1 line about 127.0.0.1 (the comments at the top don't count). If you do, try to locate the line mentioning the problematic website or part of it (indigo.ca or chapters.indigo.ca) and place a # before it to comment it out. To prevent accidents like this again, delete all except the first line (which defines 127.0.0.1 as localhost). Verified WFM.

Hello Tom at Work Thank you VERY MUCH! I did as you suggested, I accessed the HOSTS file and placed a # in front of the troublesome web address and tried accessing it again...IT WORKED. Thank you so very much. I've been unable to access this site for six weeks! You wouldn't believe the hassles and headaches I've endured!!! I sign off with the utmost gratitude. I am very grateful for your time, assistance and patience! Respectfully, Nigel.
