User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.7) Gecko/20050414 Firefox/1.0.3 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.7) Gecko/20050414 Firefox/1.0.3 After Firefox spontaneouly collapsed without warning on three separate occasions I created a new profile (as suggested by your bug fixes) and attempted to reproduce the problem. Again, it collapsed while browsing. When I attempted to open the browser again using the original profile, I received a message saying the profile was in use and could not be accessed. I have not been able to access that original profile since. Renaming it does not help. The only profile available is the one created to reproduce the problem. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 3.

Navigate to the profile folder (typically C:\Documents and Settings\YourName\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\%RANDOM%.default), delete parent.lock. Go to Start -> Run Type "firefox -p" Select the default profile. It should work now. In the future, please ask for this type of help on http://forums.mozillazine.org. I have no idea what is best to mark this bug, but since my profile worksforme after deleting parent.lock, marking WFM.

See Bug 253950 "When the default profile is locked on startup, UI needs to be less confusing"
