Small content suggestion for the home page.

Aside from the detecting message blurb on the home page it needs something more
timely to call out new releases. A much more explicit "we've just released
X.Y.Z" kinda mention on it.. regardless of what browser you're running when you
visit it.

For those of us that run nightlies right now the only place we can see that a
new release was just added is inside the site on the blog if its a recent post.

And much more generally the page content as it is now doesn't seem like it
changes / like it'll get stale / doesn't show activity if i return again in a
few weeks. Needs some more forceful "check this out" or "we just did this" call out.
We should probably just add a reminder about the current version to all the
messages that don't already have one.

Perhaps "hiddedn-pref-a-day" or something that pulls latest new feature/bug fix
added to the nightlies, or a "title+opening sentence" from the existing (most
recent) blog post syndication? Would any of those be easy enough?

The rest of the Mozilla.org site is pretty stagnant, too, except for those
*little* blips on the homepage, and I agree it suffers for it...
I have an idea. Do you remember when Panther was out and on the OS X page, Apple
had a call out box, which had rounded corners, listing any new/important
updates? We could do that and put it in between the header image and the entire
body for a week or two following a new release. We'd also remove the yellow call
out box during that time.

How does that sound?

Is changing the text to be more explicit about the "great and wonderful Camino 1.0" part going to happen for 1.0, or are we sticking with the existing text?
Target Milestone: --- → Camino1.1
The text should change, but also the header graphic will note that it's Camino 1.0 (as opposed to just "Camino").

We should really have this done by 1.0.1...
Closing as WFM...

if i recall this was filed before the download listings at the top right changed to list nightlies through beta.. and i've got no realted gripes now

Reopening. I'd like to get something more prominent for 1.0.1 (if there is one).

This will be covered with the new site.
Status: NEW → ASSIGNED
Reassigning website bugs to me. Also untargeting. These bugs should be finished in time for Camino 1.5's website, but aren't necessary.

I'm still working on this, but I have a good idea of what I'm going to do. It'll be ready by 1.5.1.
So, I think this will be fixed by bug 384535 and bug 384536 for the main page and will be covered by bug 384537 for the start page. I'm going to close this as... WONTFIX I think. Even though we're really fixing it in three other bugs now. :)
