Does this only happen when accessed from a bookmark? If so, are you sure that you didn't just check "Open in sidebar" in the bookmark properties?

I also /thought/ I had this problem - after reading the comment about the 'launch in sidebar' check box, I went back and found that the box was checked. My question now is 'did I check that box' or did it somehow check itself? -David

Three possibilities: ticked the checkbox, bookmarks.html became corrupted in some unrepeatable and unknowable way, or added the bookmark from a page so desperate to be bookmarked that it used window.sidebar.addPanel to bring up an Add Bookmark dialog, even though it knew it was making a useless and confusing bookmark. Anyway, with no response from the original reporter, there's nothing useful to be done here.
