Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050317 Firefox/1.0.2 Build Identifier: Thunderbird 1.0.2 A mail was being downloaded and should have been moved to a subfolder if Inbox using a filter. Execution of the filter failed. An error messaged said something along the lines of "the path to the sub-folder cannot be found" (apologies for being so vague, a bit difficult to reproduce). The message then disappeared from all folders including my ISP. I have no idea who it was from and can therefore not do any further investigation into the specific filter setup etc. Reproducible: Didn't try Expected Results: Move the message from Inbox to the sub-folder

this has been fixed on the trunk, I believe, if it is the case that the sub-folder actually didn't exist...

Reproducible:
If you have some filters on your pop account, it also appears in the following
situation:
1) backup your personal directories containing emails;
2) uninstall thunderbird;
3) install thunderbird;
4) copy your backup in the position where thunderbird read pop account from;
5) re-start thunderbird;
if an incoming email it's linked to a filter whose destination does not exist
anymore('cause when you uninstall and then install again thunderbird, filter
rules loses some information), thunderbird alerts you that the destination does
not exist anymore (correct) but mail disappears (error).
Expected Results:
I think that after alerting me, thunderbird would place incoming email in the
inbox - as in the previous versions it did.(In reply to comment #2)

Francesco, what build are you using? This is fixed on the trunk, but not in 1.0x

That problem occurs even if the target folder exists. It seems that this happens if there is some activity in the target folder. The following steps should reproduce the problem. 1. Have a subfolder with lots of mail in it. This subfolder must be in a state where the next click on the folder triggers that 'building summary' thing. 2. Have a filter that moves incoming mail into the subfolder. 3. Click on the subfolder. 4. During the 'building summary' activity a mail must arrive. What happens then is that Thunderbird tries to move the mail into the subfolder. An error message is displayed and the mail disappears. Bug occured with Thunderbird 1.0.2. Haven't checked with trunk. An e-mail should never vanish and filters should work even if there is something going on with the involved folders.

David says that this was fixed on Trunk back in 2005, no one has contradicted him, and TB 1.0.2 is by now horribly obsolete. Resolving INVA because of this.
