This is a tab viewing problem. A sample step by step operation is given in the
step section.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.I open several tabs in the browser, i.e five tabs.
2.Foe example, I opened the second tab lastly and see the contents of the web page.
3.I open and then close the fifth tab.
Actual Results:
The fourth tab opens.
Expected Results:
I would like to want to see my last opened tag, that is the second tag not the
fourth tag.

There are are at least 4 Bugs on this, videlicit:
Firefox: Return to last tab viewed, return to last tab opened
MAS: Return to last tab viewed, return to last tab opened
There is an extension that might help you.
Personally, I am happy for Tabs to be unordered, and opened in Left <=> Right
fashion; but it would be nice to be able to detach a tab to form a new window
(Camino can do this)
Bug 225680 "Ability to detach tabs (Open a tab in a new window)"
Bug 277643 "Tab memory or history"
