Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-GB; rv:1.7.7) Gecko/20050414 Firefox/1.0.3
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-GB; rv:1.7.7) Gecko/20050414 Firefox/1.0.3

I used the Linux Firefox 1.0.3 installer (firefox-1.0.3.installer.tar.gz) to
install firefox in /opt/firefox, after deleting firefox 1.0.2. After this,
Firefox reported that I had no themes nor extensions on my system. Trying to
install new themes or extensions met with failiure; after clicking OK/Install,
nothing happened. I removed $HOME/.mozilla and tried again. Same result.

I then removed $HOME/.mozilla and /opt/firefox reinstalled Firefox via the
installer. Same result. I removed the two directories, removed the firefox
installer, and tried again. No luck. I repeated this step, deleting the
directories and trying once more to install. No change. I tried changing the
user from root to my local account. No change.

I then attempted to install Firefox without the installer (using
firefox-1.0.3.tar.gz); just a straight 'tar xzf' into /opt/firefox. That did work.

Therefore, there seems to be a problem with the 1.0.3 installer under Linux.
However, it seems odd that no-one else has reported this problem, so it may be a
problem isolated to my system. I cannot think what would cause it, though.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Firefox 1.0.3 via the installer

Actual Results:
Themes and Extensions don't work. Firefox reports no themes nor extensions
present (even if there are), and ignores attempts to install more themes or
extensions.

Expected Results:
The Themes/Extensions system should report present themes and extensions and
allow the user to add new themes and extensions.

I'm using SuSE 9.1, kernel version 2.6.5-7.111.30-smp, GTK version 1.2.10. GTK2
version 2.4.0.
Reporter - can you reproduce this with 1.0.6?
Version: unspecified → 1.0 Branch
This is WFM on Linux with 1.0.6 and the reporter hasn't responded.
