Details

For the lengthy string in the URL field of this bug report, LXR doesn't tell me
the string is too long for LXR to search for it, but rather:

---
Search failed
Reason: pattern '[the pattern]' does not fit in specified buffer
glimpse: error in options or arguments to `agrep'

This is glimpse version 3.6, 1996.
---

Besides the message being user-unfriendly, this seems dangerous. If there isn't
a bug or an exploit here somewhere, there may be in the future. LXR should
reject this string before it ever passes it to glimpse.
