Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open two tabs, and a website with links in at least one of them. 2. Click on a link in that tab. 3. Immediately switch to another tab, before the browser begins to display the new page 4. Notice that the web page is opened in the improper tab Actual Results: The web page is opened in the improper tab. Expected Results: The web page should have been opened in the tab in which the link was selected.

Do you see this in an original mozilla.org build and without extensions ? (use the safemode to disable all extension: close FF and run "firefox -safe-mode")

Matti: Yes, I did. It needs to be clicked really fast, especially on a fast connection. Like for example, I did a google web search, then, I clicked on the Images link and switched over to a new tab really fast. It still did it in safe-mode.

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01". This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code. While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug (given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more reproduction information if you have it. If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved. Thank you for your help in this matter. Happens often in Ubuntu 10.x, 11.x (32bit), for Firefox 7.x or later. Broader problem: If I open three or more tabs (eg. from Google search), the second new tab is a copy of the first. This means the correct URL is lost, and I must go back and guess which one was lost. Should this be raised as NEW issue?

Hi guys, I have the same issue, but I reckon it's a different issue considering how much Firefox has changed in the last six or seven years. I propose you read and vote for the following, more-recently filed bug report: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=758594

This is NOT a duplicate of Bug 758594. That bug is unconfirmed, and has a different stated cause. This bug is still present (even in FF19). As I noted (in Comment 6), this appears to have an underlying cause: When opening two or more tabs/links from a page (eg. Google search results), the second new tab is lost (and is an exact copy of first). This appears to be an uninitialized variable / timing issue. This does NOT occur again (if steps repeated), until the browser is re-started OR a new browser window opened. It does NOT appear to be related to FF load (or number of Add-Ons).
