Deleting the google search plugin (google.src and google.gif) causes the search
field to be completely blank as if there were no search plugins even though
there are 5 other search engines installed. merely restoring the 2 google files
returns the search field to normal.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Exit Firefox
2.searchplugins\google.src and google.gif
3.restart Firefox
4.No search engines are available.
Actual Results:
No search engines are available.

Expected Results:
All installed search engines should be available and google should not be.

WFM, I deleted it by moving it to a ded folder, and it still showed up. Moved
the ded folder out, and then it doesn't show up, and has now selected another
plugin.

I tried your solution which didn't work for me and after a bit of moving, the
google search around I was unable to access any searches even after I restored
the google search. I then had to run the FF 1.03 installer again which restored
the search engines including my added extras but this time creative commons
became the "bad boy" and I was able to delete google and every thing els that I
didn't want except Creativ Commons. I guess this means that the problem is in FF
and not in the Google search engine.

bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.
