User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.7) Gecko/20050414 Firefox/1.0.3
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.7) Gecko/20050414 Firefox/1.0.3

When trying to enter material in a Bulletin Board-style Web page, I am unable to
highlight an area of text and drag it to a new location. The same is true of
the text entry areas of this form. This is a serious disadvantage for those of
us trying to transfer to Firefox from IE. We are used to this feature, and it
should be available.

I have tried it, and I could not get higlight/drag copy to work, as well. These
are standard Windows editing functions that are sorely missed by those of us who
depend on using the mouse to do editing functions. I suggest and request that
these two functions be added to Firefox and any other Mozilla products that do
not have them, as soon as possible.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a Firefox window and open a Web page that contains a text entry space.
2. Enter some text into the text entry space.
3. Highlight a character or characters in the text entry space.
4. Attempt to use the left mouse button to drag the highlighted text to another
location in the text entry area, or to another text entry area.

Actual Results:
The I-beam cursor for text entry does not change to a pointer when it is located
over selected text. This disables the sue of the drag function to move text.
It also disables the function of dragging to copy.

Expected Results:
The software should respond in the same way that Internet Explorer does.

Works for me on the latest nightly build. The pointer only changes once you drag
the mouse away from the text that you've highlighted.

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
