Details
Here's a thing that I think would be pretty good to both solve the current
problem of sites abusing the whitelist, as well as any possible future problem.
Timed whitelist entries.
The idea is, if someone adds a site to the whitelist for only a few minutes,
they have enough time to get the file, but when they come across an exploit it
won't work due to the entry being removed. I'm sure this is probably a real
pain, so there needs to be some way around this for some sites (but you'd have
to go into the options themselves to add permanent entries), but otherwise it
shouldn't be too much trouble for the normal user.
The idea of a timed entry is not new, mIRC by default lets you unignore a file
extension, but by default also resets it back to ignored after 3 minutes. I do
think it's a good idea, yes a bit of additional hassle but it really should
close the window for potential exploits.
