Deleting extension "pointer" file doesn't uninstall extension

It seems that you have to touch the directory of the installed extension or
remove it before EM will notice that it should be uninstalled.  Simply removing
the file in the app-global location that points to the extension directory is
not sufficient.  I think it should be.
Darin - I am not able to reproduce this bug... can you confirm it still exists?
Also of note is bug 305296.
WFM with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b4)
Gecko/20050819 Firefox/1.0+ too
