I updated Thunderbird to a newer release (got 1.0.2) and when writing mails and pressing backspace it
sometimes doesn't redraw properly making it impossible to see what you write.

This bug is in a state where I can't currently use Thunderbird for my daily mail use on Mac OS X. It has
been verified by me on Tiger and a coworker on Panther.

Reproducible: Sometimes
Screenshot showing the issue.
Found an older version (0.9) of Mozilla Thunderbird and this also had the same problem so it might be
some update in the Mac OS X layer.
I'm seeing this too.

However, only on one of my Tiger installs. The one showing the problem has
been my development environment for a long time - unfortunately I can't wipe my
user environment and start over.

It would sure be nice to figure this out - as it now prevents me from using
either FireFox or ThunderBird on a normal basis.
I figured out what was causing this, at least for me.

For some reason, I had a full copy of /System/Library/{FontCollections,Fonts} in
~/Library

I did the following:

cd ~/Library
tar cf ~/LibraryUserFonts.tar FontCollections Fonts
rm -rf FontCollections/*
rm -rf Fonts/*

Everything's now fine.

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
Thank you for your help in this matter.

The latest beta releases can be obtained from:

Thunderbird: http://www.mozilla.org/products/thunderbird/releases/1.5beta1.html

I guess then mscott if you could change it to confirmed since it has indeed been
confirmed by a second user.
