Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.7.7) Gecko/20050414 Firefox/1.0.3 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.7.7) Gecko/20050414 Firefox/1.0.3 This bug is similar to 267121 and 292221 etc. After booting the PC, the FIRST time I click on one of the desktop icons Firefox does not display the GUI. Task Manager shows the firebox.exe process running. Further clicks on the icons gives the same result. However if I click on a link in an email, the Firefox GUI appears and works OK. Closing FF and clicking on the desktop icon now works as expected. This behaviour has only started in the past 2-3 days. I've been running 1.0.3 since just after its release. I do have a number of plugins installed, mostly web development ones. Maybe one of these is causing it after an automatic upgrade? Although I have clasified this as a minor bug with a work round, It's not an obvious one, and not one that (IMHO) anyone would want to use long term. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Boot PC 2.Click on FF icon on desk top 3.Click on link in, say, email Actual Results: no GUI but firefox.exe seen running in Task manager after step 2 GUI displays OK after step 3 Expected Results: display GUI after step 2

If you have the web-dev extension installed, try disabling/removing it from safemode. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_Mode_%28Firefox%29 Other extensions to look for is UserAgentSwitcher, Dictionary Search, and Tabbed Browser Preferences and Tabbed Browser Extension. Let us know if this sorted things.

Please run Firefox in the safemode and it that works it's an extension. (safemode = FF without extension) This works for everyone else and support question or extension bugs doesn't belong into bugzilla. If you need additional help you can ask in the mozillazine.org forums. marking invalid
