I have two accounts set up - 1 IMAP and 1 POP3. For the IMAP account, I have both "Check for new messages at startup" and "Check for new messages every X minutes" UNchecked - for the POP3 account, they ARE checked. Every once in a while, I get a notification saying there are new messages on my IMAP account - but this should not be, because it should not be checked automatically. Using Thunderbird version 1.0.2
does your server support the idle command? If so, in your advanced imap server settings, you can turn off thunderbird's use of the idle command, if you don't want to get notified of new mail.
Ok, when I did that, I stopped getting the notification messages as I wanted, but it's only a workaround, so this is still a bug right? Side note: in our setup, multiple clients are connected to the same account on the IMAP server (so we can all monitor our global support inbox). Previously, the inboxes were synchronized, meaning that messages got downloaded to all the clients. However, when I turned off the IDLE functionality, all the messages went to the inbox on my client (when I did a manual send/receive), and didn't appear in anyone else's mail client. I'm not sure if I'm misusing IMAP, but it sounds like the IDLE functionality needs to stay on in my case.
