User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050405 Firefox/1.0 (Ubuntu package 1.0.2)
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050405 Firefox/1.0 (Ubuntu package 1.0.2)

When selecting the text "y." from the left, the part after the 'y' will shift to
the right as the 'y' is selected. This can be accomplished by selecting the text
with either the mouse or keyboard. The text will shift back when the period is
selected.
A similar thing happens if the text is selected from the right, except this
time, selecting the period causes the shift.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Find a page with "y." (see site provided)
2. Start selecting from the left and pass over the 'y'
Actual Results:
The text to the right of the 'y' shifts to the right.

Expected Results:
The software should have continued selecting text without shifting it.

highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.
