Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050317 Firefox/1.0.2 Build Identifier: Bugzilla 1.16.x I wanted to re-open Bug 233502 for documentation purposes, but since I have no rights, I file a new bug report. I request re-opening the bug for documentation purposes, to add Comment 10 to the manual: " Adding a group that matches a product (in 2.16 anyway - this isn't an issue in 2.17.x) does not automatically add all the bugs in that product to the group. You'll need to run a query which returns all bugs in the product, then click the "change several bugs at one" link, then set the group radio buttons to add that group to all of those bugs. I request the 2.16 manual be changed - add this in Paragraph 5.5. I suggest slight change in wording to emphasize we are talking about existing bugs: " Adding a group that matches a product does not automatically add the existing bugs in that product to the group. You'll need to run a query which returns all bugs in the product, then click the "change several bugs at one" link, then set the group radio buttons to add that group to all of those bugs. This applies to version 2.16 of Bugzilla only - isn't an issue in later versions of Bugzilla." Regards Willem Semmelink Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: The manual does not contain the said paragraph Actual Results: User is not informed about effect on existing bugs, and that poses security risk. Expected Results: After change user will be aware, and configure software properly.

I suggest the following improvement to my earlier proposal: " Adding a group that matches a product does not automatically add the existing bugs in that product to the group. You'll need to run a query which returns all bugs in the specific product. Make sure that you include all statuses in the query: (Unconfirmed, new, assigned, reopened, resolved, verified, closed). When the bugs for the product display, click the "change several bugs at one" link, then set the group radio buttons to add that group to all of those bugs. Click the radio button on "Remove" from all the other groups. This applies to version 2.16 of Bugzilla only - isn't an issue in later versions of Bugzilla."

Colin, is that something which needs to be fixed? If yes, in which versions? Please confirm the bug or close it.
