User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; WinNT4.0; fr-FR; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; WinNT4.0; fr-FR; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4

The IBM Glass Engine is a Java applet launched from a web browser.
Launching it from Firefox 1.0.4 crashes it, while it works inside IE 6.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to http://www.philipglass.com/glassengine/
2. Click on "Launch"

Actual Results:
A window open saying the Glass Engine is loading.
Few second later all Firefox windows disappear. Firefox has crashed.

Expected Results:
Show the Glass Engine applet.

I'm using the same Java VM in both browsers: Sun 1.4.2_06 (build 1.4.2_06-b03).

This is the first applet I tried since I upgraded Firefox from version 1.0.3, so
I will check with other applets to see if the problem is related to this applet
in particular.
Attached file JVM log file
This seems to be a crash of the Java virtual machine.

All Java applets I tried since I removed Firefox 1.0.3 (using the Windows
control panel) and installed Firefox 1.0.4 crash Firefox and produce such a log
file.
Can you please try JRE1.5.X ?

So this could be a regression.

It could be ... doesn´t justify to add the keyword regression.
Did you see this applet working on Firefox 1.0.3 or Mozilla 1.7.7 using the same
JRE? I didn´t, but I also couldn´t test. The reporter has some other problem,
each and every applet he tries is crashing, I can see other applets not
crashing, so we´ve got different problems, but we´ve got the same problem with
this site.

If you add 'regression' you also should tell when you last saw it working, and
first saw it failing.
If the timeframe is short, a day or two, it is easier to find the patch which
caused the regression. It doesn´t make sense to look at some hundred checkins to
find the culprit.

Checked this with a Camino nightly (version 2.0b2pre (1.9.0.7pre 2009020512)) to see what was happening on an intel Mac under Mac OS X 10.4.11.

No crash; however, two windows would pop open from the URL given in this bug. One had to start the player in one window before the applet would work.
Yeah it happens for me too. I am using Firefox 3.0.10 & Firefox eventually crashes when you try to display a Java Applet Graph based on some user entered data. It happens in Ubuntu Firefox also.

URL testcase is WFM using Firefox 5.0 on Windows XP with Java 1.6.0.26.
OJI has been discontinued and Java now runs out-of-process, so this stuff has probably changed a lot. This bug has no info about current software versions, please file a new bug for new issues or reopen this one with current info, including a crash signature if it still happens and move it to a component outside of graveyard.
