User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322) Build Identifier: mozilla 1.04 #1. WHen i first connect, i get error report " google.com could not be found...check name etc... #2. When first connecting, Mozilla 'Flashes, orange in taskbar. #3. When loading webpages, especially on Gamesville.com, I get a warning "document contains no data" alot. I am on HP pavillion a305 I think, it sucks... for sure...I get terrorized by hp with background updates and also by microsoft...I do not want service pack two it really screws everything...HOW CAN I BLOCK THEM ALTOGETHER? I think someone, 'hooks' my isp address and hacks my computer, although I am running AVG, the internet firewall, and MOZILLA. Yet files get 'replicated ( an extra shortcut to a program appears on desktop), Or files get renamed, or erased altogether....I stopped using IE for that reason, yet Mozilla hasn't solved this problem... Do you think perhaps, someone at my local ISP is hacking??? How can I find out ? Also, in my TASK MANAGER I notice there are 'several files...processes, that say, SERVICE HOST or local or network service...when I connect on this computer, I get tone after tone after tone, like maybe five times, like it's connecting or handshaking, with several hosts, then i get the 'white noise and it connects... Is this normal for XP? On my old WIN98 computer, it connects with just one 'set' of tones and then i get the white noise and i'm on like instantly...at 38K (good cuz I'm in the country, old phones and computers) On this hp piece of ****, I can barely get on over 12 or 14 K ? what's the deal with that? Mozilla works farely good, MOST of the time, but it seems to hang and I get 'TIMEOUTS alot..also. HELP! Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.DOn't know how, MOZILLA reproduces these on it's own? 2. 3. Expected Results: How about WORK RIGHT? I think it would be nice if you added a port scan, to let me know if anyone is 'hooked on ' you know like alternate data stream going somewhere else...

(In reply to comment #0) Mattie, it sounds as if you need to have someone check out your computer to see if it is infected with viruses or worms and may need to take it in to someone who is familiar with how to fix the problem. > User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322) > Build Identifier: mozilla 1.04 > > #1. WHen i first connect, i get error report " google.com could not be > found...check name etc... > > #2. When first connecting, Mozilla 'Flashes, orange in taskbar. > > #3. When loading webpages, especially on Gamesville.com, I get a > warning "document contains no data" alot. > These are all symptoms of a bad connection, bad dns or just plain timeouts on your connection. It may just be the poor phone connection since you are in the country. > I am on HP pavillion a305 I think, it sucks... for sure...I get terrorized by > hp with background updates and also by microsoft...I do not want service pack > two it really screws everything...HOW CAN I BLOCK THEM ALTOGETHER? > I run WinXP with Service Pack 2 and really don't have any problems with it. I recommend that you don't try to block them, install the Microsoft Spyware scanner and make sure it cleans up any infections, then run the Service Pack 2 update. You used to be able to order the SP2 CD free of charge from Microsoft. That would help considering you are on a dial up connection. > I think someone, 'hooks' my isp address and hacks my computer, although I am > running AVG, the internet firewall, and MOZILLA. > How can I find out ? Unless you are fairly sophisticated at this kind of thing, the best approach is to take it to someone who knows what they are doing. > > Also, in my TASK MANAGER I notice there are 'several files...processes, that > say, SERVICE HOST or local or network service...when I connect on this > computer, I get tone after tone after tone, like maybe five times, like it's > connecting or handshaking, with several hosts, then i get the 'white noise and > it connects... > > Is this normal for XP? > Some of them may be but others may not. We can't really diagnose it remotely. > On my old WIN98 computer, it connects with just one 'set' of tones and then i > get the white noise and i'm on like instantly...at 38K (good cuz I'm in the > country, old phones and computers) > > On this hp piece of crap, I can barely get on over 12 or 14 K ? what's the > deal with that? > Who knows? Phone line possibly or something else. I live in the country where my phone connection is poor and use Satellite and it works very well for me. > Mozilla works farely good, MOST of the time, but it seems to hang and I > get 'TIMEOUTS alot..also. You might try <http://forums.mozillazine.org/> where people might be able to help. There are also other forums which might help with making sure your computer is clean. This isn't a Mozilla related security issue, so I'm opening up the flags and marking it invalid. Also Tech Evangelism bugs aren't really for support. See <http://www.mozilla.org/projects/tech-evangelism/> for more background. Good luck!
