Details
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050514 Firefox/1.0.4 When having set "browser.link.open_newwindow" to "1" hitting the "Check Now" button from Preferences-Advanced-'Software Update' changes this value to "3". Steps to reproduce: 1) Create a new profile 2) Set "browser.link.open_newwindow" to "1" 3) Go to Preferences => Advanded => 'Software Update' 4) Leave the Checkbox(es) unchecked or mark them checked 5) Hit the "Check Now" button 6) After Check has completed hit the "Finish" button (The user set value is still ok) 7) Close the Preferences Panel by hitting the "OK" button (Now the value has changes from "1" to "3") This only occurs when going through the Preferences' panel. Checking for extension's updates from the "Tools => Extensions" panel does leave my user settings untouched.

Has this been tested on the trunk? There's a new pref dialog there, so this is probably no longer valid.

(In reply to comment #2) > This bug is on branch (1.0.4), not on trunk. Bugs like this one on branches are invalid. The next release of Firefox is going to be off the current trunk, so if it doesn't exist there, this bug has no value. No changes are planned to the 1.0.x series except for security releases, and this does not count as security.
