User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4 Import currently imports mail from an e-mail application installed on the same machine as Thunderbird. It would be useful to be able to import e-mail from a *.pst file (for Outlook) or a directory of mbox files (for Netscape Communicator) instead of having to have the old e-mail application installed. Particularly, I am migrating from seven old computers running Windows NT using both Outlook and Netscape Communicator to brand new computers running Windows XP that I want to use Thunderbird on. I don't want to have to install programs I'll never use (either Thunderbird on all the old computers, or Outlook/Communicator on all the new computers) just to do the import. Basically, the current import makes assumptions about how you are migrating from your old client to Thunderbird that make it much more difficult to do the migration. Apologies if this is a duplicate request. Many posts were referring to a specific instance of this feature (such as importing *.pst files) as a solution to bugs posted, but I couldn't find any request that dealt with the generic import problem for migrating from any mail client. Reproducible: Always

There is a good reason why this are different bug reports. They ARE different bugs because mbox and pst files are different file Format. with BTW: buigs with multible issues in one bug report are invalid. Mozilla/thunderbird also need outlook to import pst files (Mozilla is using outlook to convert this messages !) duping to bug 63389 (mbox import) *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 63389 ***
