But maybe the browser shouldn´t crash if something buggy is dropped into the URL box? On the other hand, if I drop to wordpad, it freezes and can´t be killed. the buggy editor isn´t up to date, I just noticed they got a newer version. I like that editor, it is a valuable tool, and I don´t need this drag and drop. http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=45545 I used Release Notes PN2 0.5.6b 2004-08-05 17:00 and will retest using the current version. Can you please test with the latest stable of programmers Notepad, if it still crashes with that, I will test in a trunk Firefox (and a 1.0.4 Firefox) for you as well [WinXP both]. P.S. being unsure if this is a valid bug report should cause you to file as UNCO not NEW.
1. I'm now using the latest version of pn, 2.0.5.48 2. drag'n drop from pn to wordpad gave an error message, and using the free process explorer from sysinternals I couldn´t kill wordpad. http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/procexp.shtml So the bug on the gecko side is that is is going down on a bad drop, at least on Win98. Win2k or WinXP should be more stable. I filed the bug for sake of completeness, I don´t mind if it is resolved wontfix or stays open, if the more current windows versions are working.
