Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
I am not sure if what you are asking is possible, but I somehow don't see it as plausible to write hooks into your operating systems screen saver just to determine if you are online or not before updating your live bookmarks. If anybody disagrees, re-open, I am wontfixing this.

I think he's talking about when a user specificaly selects "work offline" in which case it might make sense to disable live bookmarks in those cases. (if sufficiently easy)

Please file a new bug on that issue, and this time follow the bug writing guidelines. If going into "Working Offline" mode doesn't cause Live Bookmarks to stop trying to update, then that should be part of your report, and you should have well defined steps for reproduction. http://www.mozilla.org/quality/bug-writing-guidelines.html for more information. Also, please search to make sure you don't report a duplicate.

Please, sorry my english. I'll try to explain what I mean: When I am offline and "Work offline" is not checked, live bookmarks try to update themselves. I find this annoying, and I need to check "Work offline" to stop that. Now, I'd like live bookmarks to update themselves only when I'am online. I'll read the guidelines, count with that! And sorry again, ;)

Is that basically what you are getting at? If so, that was my original understanding when I resolved per comment #1. I had understood what you were saying to mean that in order to keep live bookmarks from updating, you had to mark yourself as offline, that you wished for it to stop updating if you weren't actively browsing, I don't think that is very plausible, but whatever.

Now, you let me note something obviusly to you all: Firefox assumes I'am online ALL THE TIME, so I MUST check "Work Offline" to let him know that. I'm sorry I accept your reply. Thanks. PD: When I mean offline, I was trying to say: "when I'm not connected to the Internet at all"

Thanks. > > PD: When I mean offline, I was trying to say: "when I'm not connected to the > Internet at all" It makes that assumption because it is an application that relies on being online. If you think that's the incorrect behavior and that it should have something for detecting whether you are online or offline, then you could file an enhancement bug on that. Honestly, I think that would be something better suited to an extension. I would recommend contacting an extension author or writing on yourself that would simply detect if the user is connected to the internet (maybe by pinging the nth IP along a traceroute to Google.com) and trigger 'Work Offline' when it can no longer ping, and then turn 'Work Online' off when it can ping. That is an interesting idea, but is beyond the scope of just Live Bookmarks.

Andrés, does Firefox dial up automatically to refresh live bookmarks? If so, I think that's the bug here.

(In reply to comment #10) Can't you switch that off in your systems connections properties window?
