i think, that my Thunderbird delete emails only virtual. but they are still on
my hard drive. why i think so?

reason 1: my mailfolder in
c:\documents...\my_profle\application_data\thunderbird\ is using (now) 1400 mb
of memory.

reason 2: file 'Trash. ' is using 472mb - it should be less than 1mb, because
i delete everything from Trash. the same is with other files.

reason 3: in my program in folder 'Send' now i have got 1700 unread mails. i
often clean old messages. there is something stranger, because there are mails
from 2002 year. before i have been using MS Outlook, then i have installed
thunderbird and import my mails and i have made folders and i moved there old
mails, also from 'send'.

my free disk space is smaller every day... :/

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. delete mail (for example from 'inbox' - now 180 mb) with Del key or move by
click and drag to the another folder
2. if the mails are in trash - delete them with Del key
3.

Expected Results:
my data folder with mail should be smaller. from my calculation the max size of
all mail data should be less than 200mb.

thunderbird 1.0 (20041206)
Right click on folder->Compact This Folder.
==>no bug, this is for perf reasons (imagine rewriting the mail folder every
time you change something when you 1000s of mails).

Please stop changing bug status, Bugzilla is no support system. Local Folders
either normally store all your mails (when using Global Inbox) or only store
sent messages that don't belong elsewhere (for example when sending messages to
Newsgroups).
