Currently, when the download manager is opened, either the download manager
stays open, or it is closed after completion.
I'd like to see a pref to close it after the launch of the download. Internet
Explorer behaves this way, and I find it easy to use.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to Options
2. In Download section, enable "show download manager when a download begins"
3. Leave the option "Close download manager when all downloads are complete"
disabled.
4. Go download a file
5. Open the downloaded file from the download manager
Actual Results:
After the file is opened, the download manager stays open after the download is
finished.
Expected Results:
When the file is opened, the download manager should close (make optional,
offcourse)
Internet Explorer works thia way

I did specify it as an enhancement, didn't I?
Also, firstly I put [RFE] in the title, but it was removed.

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01".
This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.
While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.
If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
Thank you for your help in this matter.

Still, I think it wouldn't enhanced my browsing experience.
Seems like a valid request. I would have expected this to be a dupe, but can't
see it. I'll mark as NEW - how many minutes before the dupe appears?

I agree, and prefer the current behavior.
Sometimes I might download multiple files and open them one at a time.
If it closes after I open the first download, I will have to reopen the download window each time I want to open a file.
In my opinion, this is a user preference that should be delegated to an extension.
