This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01". This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code. While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug (given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more reproduction information if you have it. If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved. Thank you for your help in this matter. It should be easy to implement, to just drag and drop a newsgroup up and down, like you can do with the email folders and subfolders of your inbox. I really like to have this implemented since it is hard to find my favourite groups in all my subscriptions. They are not grouped based on their topic but grouped in the order I added them. I hope someone will implement this, it must be easy since the only thing involved is changing the order in the text file where they are saved (as noted in the work-around).

Being able to sort alphabetically would be real minimum, I'd say.

(In reply to comment #3) > q&d workaround see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Sorting_newsgroups This bug is not (only) about sorting newsgroups, but also about putting them in a hierarchical folder structure.

The use case for this seems not important enough to implement.

(In reply to Magnus Melin [:mkmelin] from comment #10)
The use case for this seems not important enough to implement.
Are you speaking only about the ability to sort newsgroups alphabetically, or also about the ability to group them into subfolders? I ask because there was an older bug concerned only with sorting (Bug 251707) but it got duped to this one. IMHO there is indeed a use case for sorting groups—finding a group in a list of a dozen or more becomes onerous when they're not sorted. Perhaps the previous bug could be reopened?
