attachments received from various other clients and platforms are mishandled and appear as generic "Part
x.x.x" plain text attachments that upon download open only in text applications as hex text . changing the
file name to the proper extension does not change the behavior .

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
upon receiving email with attachments
1. right click "part x.x.x" attachment at bottom of email window
2. save attachment
3 [review]. double-click file to open

Actual Results:
hex text document

Expected Results:
pdf or pages attachment
Using Thunderbird 1.0.2 on Mac OS X 10.4.2, attachments going to other platforms
often appear as text embedded in mail message as ASCII text, and can not be
reclaimed as attachment by cut-and-paste methods.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. send mail with attachment (e.g.: .pdf, or .doc, or .xls)
2. mail is received typically on a PC, but sometimes on a Mac (not Thunderbird
on other end), as text embedded in mail message with no attachment

Actual Results:
ASCII text appended to end of mail message with no attachment

Expected Results:
attached file

Reporter, does the issue still occur in the latest supported 2.0.0.x / trunk nightlies?

(1.5.0.x is now end-of-life and the latest supported 2.0.0.x is 2.0.0.16)
