I think I've got the same problem on this website:
http://panocamera.com/

Can someone check it out ?
When opening big files, about 4 or 5MB, it takes a lot of time for Firefox to render the page and show the contents. For example, this happens when opening big XML files for viewing.

It seems that Firefox tries to load the whole file and format it, and then show the completely formatted document. While a better idea might be to render just the parts visible now, or parts likely to be visited soon by the user.

IE does a better job in this case! It start showing as much of the file as is read and formatted.
I think the same is happening with this page:
http://ppm.activestate.com/PPMPackages/zips/8xx-builds-only/Windows/
IE outperforms FF very much in this question. :(
Yeah, there are a number of bugs this could be a dupe of, but I'm just going to dupe it to bug 267525.
