User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050517 Firefox/1.0.4 (Debian package 1.0.4-2)
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050517 Firefox/1.0.4 (Debian package 1.0.4-2)

If "periodically check for updates to my extensions and themes" is unchecked in
the Advanced preferences, then the Update button on the Extensions window is
disabled as well. Just because I've disabled auto-updating, doesn't mean I don't
want to be able to do manual updates

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Go to Preferences, Advanced, uncheck "my extensions and themes" under
"periodically check for updates" subsection
2. Goto extensions manager. Note disabled update button
3. Go back to advanced preferences, enable "my extensions and themes" this time
4. Return to extensions manager, note enabled update button.

Actual Results:
Update button is disabled

Expected Results:
Update button should be enabled
Cannot reproduce using the official Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1;
en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4. I noticed that you are using a
1.0.4 build that has a 20050517 date. This is after the official 1.0.4 release
date. Try using an actual official 1.0.4 build and check if this behaviour still
occurs for you.
WFM on today's trunk under Fedora Core 3.
cant reproduce on linux 1.0.4
WFM Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8b2) Gecko/20050520
Firefox/1.0+ ID:2005052014
Tom, so unless you can provide more specific steps to reproduce, this bug is going
to be marked WFM. Are you sure it's not because of one of your extensions or
because you're using a non-official distribution?
Using a clean profile, bug doesn't happen with the standard compiled firefox.
Doesn't happen with just the Debian mozilla-firefox package either, and stepping
through my installed packages narrows it down to the Tabextensions
(mozilla-tabextensions package under Debian) which I am now filing a bug for
under the Debian bug system. Closing this bug here, thanks for everyone's help.
