Topic: toolbar.yahoo.com
Premise: reuse the existing architecture to allow linking to an addon hosted by
a third-party.

The modifications to additem and approvalfile are possible, but prohibitive for
UMO 1.0. That should be a separate bug. This bug is to address the install
links on the site.

I suggest that we maintain the same database architecture. A dummy XPI
containing only a valid install.rdf would be uploaded by Yahoo. This will
create the initial entries.

Set version.uri = "link:http://toolbar.yahoo.com/"

moreinfo.php and showlist.php would look for "link:" at the beginning of the uri
and create a special install link based on that.

no response from cbeard yet.

We're on betanews, and talking to extensionsroom and the top download sites. Be
nice to get it on u.m.o first though.
rafael - any chance of this happening soon? I can get someone to write the
patch but need your ok before I can get the engineer.
Mass change - bugs to be read / (re)confirmed.

We currently "support" external links, though we don't make it easy to add new ones, and I don't think that we really want to make it easier, let alone self-service. Closing FIXED.
