(Firefox / FAT / special character / upload) Uploading a file with special
character in his name to a website is unable

All my informations are there :
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Yug/Bug_Firefox%2C_FAT_and_special_characters

That' s seem to be Firefox on and W2K or FAT systemfile who cannot work
together to upload a file.

Seem to be the same than #Bug 288793

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
On my computer
1. Have a file name like "永red.png" on my computer
2. using firefox, upload this file to a web site (for me that was
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:Upload)
3. A message-error appear : "The file you uploaded seems to be empty. This might
be due to a typo in the file name. Please check whether you really want to
upload this file."

Actual Results:
Exactly the same.

=> look this for more explain :
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Yug/Bug_Firefox%2C_FAT_and_special_characters

Expected Results:
Upload the file with and keep this name : 永red.png
Component: Download Manager → HTML: Form Submission

I can confirm the broken behaviour on W2K + FAT32, with both Chinese and
Japanese characters. However, it doesn't work for me on an NTFS drive.

The fact it replaces the character with "_" is hightly suspicious too. I think
this may be a duplicate of the bug about the file dialogs on Windows (our bug,
not one in the dialogs themselves ;) ).
Status: UNCONFIRMED → NEW
Ever confirmed: true
I wonder if this is really related to FAT, since the replacement with _ also
happens on NTFS here (under Win2K).

Your information is incomplete. You need to specify what language version you
used in testing. For Win 2k/XP, you need to specify the legacy code page used
for 'non-Unicode' applications.

Anyway, this is a well-known issue and should be duped. bug 162361 deals with
the root cause.

Sorry, all that I know is there :
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Yug/Bug_Firefox%2C_FAT_and_special_characters

I just report the bug here, I haven't a good understanding of computer >0<", so
I don't understand clearly what means "the language version you
> used in testing" => I already tryed with files with chinese, thai, and
arabian's file name. After.... that's really no clear for me ( "Windows 2k/XP",
"the legacy code page used",...) . Yes I use XP....

I hope you can find what is the problem.
bye, Yug
