User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0

When you click on the location bar arrow to drop down the location bar drop-down
list, it sometimes flashes open for a moment then immediately closes again (as
if you had clicked the arrow a second time). This happens most repeatably when
firefox is open, you type <CTRL-n> on the keyboard to open a new window, then
click on the arrow. The first click reproduces the problem, subsequent clicks
act normally.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open firefox.
2. Set homepage to http://www.yahoo.com/ (may work with other url's, cannot be
blank).
3. Have several locations in the location bar drop-down menu.
4. Type <CTRL-n> to open a new firefox window.
5. In the newly opened window, use the mouse to left-click once on the location
bar arrow.

Actual Results:
The first click causes the drop-down list to momentarily appear then disappear.
Clicking on the arrow after that causes it to behave normally.

Expected Results:
Clicking the arrow should cause the drop-down list to appear consistantly
whether on the first click or not.

Windows 2000 Professional, SP4, default firefox theme.

I see this as well, confirming. To clarify, when reproducing you don't have to
have your homepage set to a site other than about:blank (blank page/url bar),
but you do have to be on a page before you try to click the down arrow at the
side of the location bar.

I confirm this bug.
If you first click in an non action place in the displayed web page before first
click the location bar arrow, there is no close of the drop-down list.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511
Firefox/1.0.4

Verified symptoms w/ver 1.0.4.

Additional Symptoms:

Sometimes happens after pressing the "back" button:
From the Yahoo home page (as described above), click on a link. The drop-down
list acts normally. Click the 'back' button, the symptom reappears.

Sometimes happens after pressing the "refresh" button:
From the Yahoo home page (as referenced above), click on the location bar arrow
until it acts normally (twice). Click the 'refresh' button. The symptom reappears.

Symptom SOMETIMES appears in a window that was opened using the context menu
(right-click) item "open link in new window". Currently doesn't appear when
opening Yahoo link this way, but does appear when opening Google link.

NOTE: Just using Yahoo home page as a reference.

Er, this has already been confirmed (it is NEW), no need to respond saying you
see this unless you are providing new and insightful information.

Summary: Location Bar doesn't stay open when clicking on arrow the first time → Location Bar doesn't stay open (collapses) when clicking on arrow the first time
Nominating as a blocker. Not sure if its too late for issues like this.

Justification: We are doing a pilot roll-out of 1.5b1 for eventual 1.5 roll-out.
It seems that our users (99% IE users) hit this bug frequently (many times per
day). This is due to their regular use of new windows and location bar history
(they don't seem to use autocomplete).
