User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7.7) Gecko/20050414 Firefox/1.0.3 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7.7) Gecko/20050414 Firefox/1.0.3 Preferences/Advanced... with only "Firefox" checked (enabled), the browser comes back with 'results' for updates to themes and extensions, but while running 1.0.3, it fails to return any indication that there is a 1.0.4 update available. This is reproducible with changes in prefs saved, and app re-launched. No effect. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Firefox/Preferences/Advanced 2.De-select "Themes & Extensions" 3.Select "Check Now" Actual Results: I got a window that informs that an update exists for "Tabbed browsing preferences", (which, upon download, hung the app, also" Expected Results: Should have checked for application update, only, as was selected in prefs, and, should have returned info to the effect that an update to 1.0.4 was aailable.

I'm seeing this behaviour with 1.0.4 as well. (The part where it checks for extension updates when told not to, at least.) Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4
Indeed, I too can confirm this for Firefox 1.0.4, this time on Windows 98 and Windows ME: Unchecking "Periodically check for updates to...My extensions and themes" seems to have no effect; installed extensions and themes are still checked for updates when the "Check Now" button is pressed. I have not tested whether the same issue occurs when Firefox automatically does its check, as opposed to when the "Check Now" button is used.

I went into Preferences on Firefox 1.0.4 (Macintosh). Under the "Advanced" tab, the 'Software Update' item had "Firefox" enabled, and 'My Extensions and Themes', disabled. (same setting i've had there for months) I hit "Check Now". The dialog that popped up said, "There are new updates to several of your Extensions"... "Install now?" I installed them (laugh), BUT, technically, either the Firefox-update-only mechanism is broken, or the presence of differentiated 'choices' is superfluous. It's a confirmed 'bug'. I was the original reporter on this one, wondering if someone will actually take the bug and have a look... i have no 'permission bits' on my account..

Closing out bugs in the old style updater, which are superseded by the new system in 1.5.
