User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050317 Thunderbird 1.0.2 [Note: This bug is similar to 265833, but involves a different version of Thunderbird with slightly different circumstances.] I have several RSS feeds from various news agencies (MSNBC.com, CNN.com, Reuters, BBC, etc). When I close the Thunderbird program and then load the program again, the news feeds all search for articles. However, rather than simply downloading the new articles for each feed, it re-downloads *all* of the articles for each feed. For example, on MSNBC.com, 15 articles are downloaded. I close Thunderbird, open it again, and all the feeds search again. When it is finished, I have 30 MSNBC articles - the same 15, but now 2 copies of each one. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open Thunderbird 1.0.2 2. Click File > New > Account... 3. Choose "RSS News & Blogs" radio button and click "Next" 4. Enter a name for the new account and click "Next" 5. Click "Finish" 6. Click on the new RSS account and click "Manage subscriptions" 7. Click "Add" 8. Enter a valid RSS feed URL. This one works: "http://rss.msnbc.msn.com/id/3032524/device/rss/rss.xml" 9. Click "OK" 10. When Thunderbird is done authenticating & downloading the feed, click "OK" 11. Click on the new RSS feed (If you used the example above, it should be called "MSNBC.com: U.S. News") 12. Note the number of articles 13. Close Thunderbird 14. Launch Thunderbird 15. Click on the RSS feed account you just created 16. Click on the folder created by the RSS feed Actual Results: Thunderbird has downloaded two copies of every article in the RSS feed, one of each when it was first created and the other copy on the re-launch. Expected Results: Thunderbird should have recognized which of the articles were duplicates (based on title, date, time, perhaps other info) and not downloaded the duplicates.
