Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de-DE; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de-DE; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4 When establishing a ssl connection via a java applet, I cannot select my ssl client certificate from the "Client Authentication" list because the list is empty. -- java version "1.5.0_03" Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_03-b07) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_03-b07, mixed mode, sharing) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Import your ssl client certificate into firefox 2. Run a (signed) applet which uses ssl itself to communicate to a secure webserver 3. The "Client Authentication" popup list appears and asks you to select your certificate Actual Results: The "Client Authentication" popup list is empty. The Java-Plugin cannot see which ssl client certificates were imported into Firefox. Expected Results: My ssl client certificate appears in the list, I select it, click on "OK" and the applet can open the connection. Works fine for Java JRE/Plugin 1.4.2_08, but not 1.5.0_03.
To help you reproducing the bug I set up a webserver and wrote a small sample applet which uses ssl encryption/authentication with a client certificate. The applet itself is embedded in an unencrypted html page but uses https to fetch a small text message from the webserver. Resources: Step-by-step guide: http://axian.de:8080/ssltest/index.html Client Certificate (import this into your browser before you run the applet): http://axian.de:8080/ssltest/client.p12 (password: changeit) Applet source: http://axian.de:8080/ssltest/src/test/applet/TestApplet.java Applet html: http://axian.de:8080/applet.html Tested with: Firefox 1.0.4, J2SE 1.4.2 : ok Firefox 1.0.4, J2SE 5.0 : failed (client certificate listbox is empty) IExplorer 6, J2SE 1.4.2 : ok IExplorer 6, J2SE 5.0 : ok

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01". This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code. While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug (given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more reproduction information if you have it. If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved. Thank you for your help in this matter.
