[Not an exploit, clearing security flag] Firewalls are an excellent part of a multi-layer approach to security, we would never suggest you turn yours off. In our testing Firefox works fine with firewalls including the one from Norton. The fact that yours doesn't, but works fine when the firewall is off, points directly at a Firewall setting being the culprit. Somewhere along the way the firewall has decided Firefox is an unauthorized program. This is not a default setting in the firewall, so the most likely scenario is that the firewall noticed the program change when you upgraded and you (or another user of your computer) quickly clicked through the warning dialog, accidentally selecting the "block" setting instead of the "allow" setting. You will have to find the settings for individual program blocking and unblock Firefox. Or if you can't find them, re-installing Firefox to a directory with a DIFFERENT NAME will probably result in the firewall asking you about whether to allow the "new" program to connect. Truncating summary. Please keep the details in the bug, only the first 60 characters or so of the summary are visible in the bug form or on reports. Truncated details are: "previously told to check Norton firewall settings they were not changed in a long time. Fire fox worked fine in previous version Note three othe browsers work fine with the setting that are there. MSN, IE, Netscape. ????? I can tell you when I disable the firewall firefox works fine. Something in the coding changes for the new relase is not right. Been around software a very long time. Check the code try it yourselves. Please get back to me."
