a forum autolinked the following url:

clicking on it produces "Invalid Bug ID"
any chance it could be made to catch those trailing dots etc and just show the bug?

I understand why you want such a feature, but I'm sorry, I don't want to weaken any area of Bugzilla's input validation without some really good reasons, and I don't think that a bad URL regex that somebody has somewhere is necessarily a good reason.
