What do you mean with "goes to Mozilla"? If you don't use Mozilla, no mails are downloaded from Mozilla. Check your server settings in Outlook.

(In reply to comment #1) Before I installed Mozilla, all my email went to Outlook. After I installed Mozilla, most emails (say 70%) continued to go to Outlook but some of the emails went to the Mozilla Mail application (30%). So occasionally I get an email notification from Mozilla Mail Application that an email has arrived and the email is in the Mozilla Mail Inbox (rather than Outlook). This is despite the fact that I have the preference "USE MOZILLA AS DEFAULT MAIL APPLICATION" check-box de-selected. What specifically should I look at on the Outlook Server Settings?

The designation of Default Mail Application is a Windows-only one referring to MAPI, a Microsoft-coined term that enables an application (such as Outlook/Mozilla/Word/Excel, etc.) to register itself as the default program used when you select a menu item that allows you to email something. A common example is the "Send To" shell command which appears on a right-click of a file in Windows. If you don't run Mozilla, it _cannot_ receive mail, pure and simple. If however, you run Mozilla, open Mozilla Mail, and then close Mozilla Mail and are only running the browser portion, Mail will still run in the background (this is a bug).

Note that opening the addressbook or compose window also starts Mail.
Ditto. I am on an HP celeron 2.93 with 256 and XP home service pack 2. The same thing happens on my Athelon laptop xp 1.5speed approx with XP pro no servicepack 2, brand = averatec. I want to use Yahoo mail as my default mail client. Use Mozilla as the default mail client is unchecked. I have reinstalled Yahoo Messenger 3 times. Each time I do that I tell it to make Yahoo my default mail client. It does not happen. I know of no other way to do this. I know it can be done. On the Averatec for a bit I had Yahoo as my default mail client. It may have changed back, I would have to check. On the HP for a bit I had gmail as my default mail client. Installing Mozilla changed everything. And now I am thinking of removing Mozilla Suite and installing it without the mail client. This is a big inconvenience and continually takes time. I have to open a window or a tab, start yahoo mail, go to compose, cut and paste the address. Cut and paste the text I want to quote, then and only then may I wrote my letter. In Addition! Yahoo does not play well with Mozilla. Or is it vice versa? If i am writing a letter and somehow another site opens in the same tab and then I need to go BACK to my letter. Poof, my letter has been destroyed. Sometimes an hour's work. It is enough to make me think of leaving Mozilla. Why is this? It does not happen on other sites when I am writing a letter. Thank you. PS I have reported this MANY times to Yahoo. They are responseless. Frigid. Reproducible: Repeatedly no exceptions Steps to reproduce: Make sure Mozilla as default mail client is unchecked. Reinstall Y!Messenger, choose Yahoo as default client. Click on Mailto: link Note Mozilla Mail window appears. Put head in hands again. Actual Results: Email goes to Mozilla mail application Expected Results: Email should have gone to Yahoo Compose with address already there This is a major inconveniences. I will probably keep trashing Mozilla and continue to suffer if this isnt resolved. One More Note: After reading the comments below I feel compelled to tell you that I have NEVER EVER opened Mozilla mail on this computer. On the laptop I normally do not open Mozilla Mail. I tried to get it working during the time period I paid for Yahoo popservice but I never could make it work. What in the world happened? A couple of years ago I could. But that one I cant attribute to anyone because I havent been as careful with it as here and I cant reproduce it without paying ($%^()*^) Yahoo money.

I will confirm that I still have this problem. I use Thunderbird as my default mailer. Mozilla still triest to send email when I click a link in Mozilla.

It was never really clarified what the original problem was exactly, it seems to me that the reporter was describing something different than comment 3 tried to explain. Comment 5 is about something else altogether. Comment 6 is again something completely different (looks like bug 11459 to me). -> incomplete
