User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4 This happens in pretty much every page I try on my office (desktop) and laptop computer (both Windows XP machines). The width of the browser window will occasionally be set to something wider than the true screen width so that I can no longer see the vertical scroll bar (fortunately the wheel on the mouse still works for scrolling), for example, certain tabs (when many are open) or elemnts that are flushed right on toolbars. I can't tell what triggers the resize, nor why it sometimes goes back to the right width. This does not always happen immediately, but it almost always happens at some point during the browser session. It also goes back to the right width from time to time. It seems completely random to me. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open a web page. 2. Wait a bit? 3. Actual Results: The page got wider. Expected Results: Kept the window the same width. I occasionally log into my computers using the Windows Remote Desktop service from computers with different screen sizes, but it happens on the 1280x1024 and on the higher (I don't have it here) resolution monitors (although on login the window is properly resized, even though it starts to switch later in the session).

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01". This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code. While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug (given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more reproduction information if you have it. If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved. Thank you for your help in this matter. I believe I've found the source of the problem: Forecastfox. It seems that when there are a lot of things in the status bar and some weather item has a long description, the browser window width adjusts to accomodate the extra length, which sometimes makes the scroll bar unreachable, tabs disappear, etc... I'm up to firefox 1.5.0.1 now, and the problem is still there. The ForecastFox version is ForecastFox Enhanced 0.8.5.2, but problem occured with previos versins of forecastfox as well. Thanks to whoever is competent and is willing take this up (I don't know if it's an extension or browser issue).

FoxClocks causes a similar problem. When it is putting times in the status bar, Firefox thinks the browser window with is much wider than it really is. You can see this by popping up the browser-width when the page loads: <body onload="alert(document.body.clientWidth)"> If is stop FoxClocks using the status bar, the problem goes away.

Thanks. I'm not sure how to do that, but I'm also a little less sure now that extensions are the source of the problem. (I had FoxClocks but uninstalled it, and I'm up to ForecastFox 0.9.0.2) For example, my browser window width was fine with just 1 (i.e. no) tab(s), but when I opened a new tab to read this bugzilla reply, the width got wider again and the scroll bar disappeared. Could that be extension related? In any case, thanks for taking another glimpse at this, I thought it had been left for dead and that I would be reduced to using the scroll wheel on the mouse to move around pages. WFM Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.4) Gecko/20060508 Firefox/1.5.0.4 There are numerous reports on Forecastfox's Bugzilla installation (http://bugs.ensolis.com) of this problem occuring with earlier versions of Forecastfox. If this is still an issue, you may wish to file a bug there.
