User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; fr; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050517 Firefox/1.0.4 (Debian package 1.0.4-2) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; fr; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050517 Firefox/1.0.4 (Debian package 1.0.4-2) When I try to print any web page with Firefox on Debian Sarge. It's too large. To understand the problem I tryed to print (with the same printer) in a PostScript file. I open the file with gv. I looks ok (good paper size : A4) I click on gv print The print is too large too I convert mozilla.ps to mozilla.pdf (using pstopdf or ps2pdf...) I open mozilla.pdf using xpdf It looks good. I print with xpdf it works. So I think the problem is with PS file send to printer I hope this problem will be solved before Sarge beeing Stable ! Regards Reproducible: Always

Sebastien, could you test this with the new deer park alpha release (http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firefox/) or a recent firefox nightly release? Firefox 1.0.x is only receiving security fixes, so this is only an issue if it happens with a current release.
Version: unspecified → 1.0 Branch

I'm sorry because I'm using Firefox 1.0.4 but I only install software on my Debian system when they are packaged ;-) I don't want to break my system because I'm *working* with it (I teach Physic) ! I see that you leave my bug as unconfirmed... but I can contact a friend of I who use Debian Sarge too and who has the same problem... Regards

ok I have converted the tgz to deb (using alien) launch the installer (in fact I shouldn't make a deb... or Moz should provide deb) The problem is know a little bit different I using french paper (A4 21cm x 29,9 cm) I tryed to print the page http://www.google.fr It's better but try to preview Top left : Google Top right : http://www.google.fr Bottom left : 1 of 1 Bottom right : date This is much better for what is inside the page Google logo is a the good size, good position but I don't see top left : Google but oogle I don't see top right : http://www.google.fr but http://www.google.f I don't see bottom (left and right) Page setup is Portrait Shrink to fit Magin top=12.7 left=12.7 right=12.7 bottom=12.7 So the problem is now with headers and footers despite margins. I tryed now to print in a ps file gv mozilla.ps I print it but... the scale is not good ! I only see Goo logo instead of the full Google logo Sorry

I confirm I have the same problem. I tried to print this page: http://www.netfort.gr.jp/~dancer/column/libpkg-guide/libpkg-guide.html but alwasy had only the half of the width of the page (for the height too). Although I selected shrink to fit. It was with a 1.0 Firefox. My ink cartidge is empty for the moment I cannot try to reproduce it. I still have to wait.

Yes i'm having the same problem too, ANY page I try to print come out very big, print preview is working fine, one of my friend is using ubuntu linux and he doesn't have any problem, i think it's a configuration issue of debian. I don't think so because why a $ lpr mozilla.ps printing is too large when the same print in FireFox is *nearly* good ?

I am having the same issue, and have for the last 1-2 versions of firefox. My current platform is Debian Sarge with Firefox 1.0.4. I print via CUPS to either an HP printer or a laser printer out on the net. I don't have pstopdf here, so I can't test that part, but I'm guessing there's an issue in the finalized postscript output that's messing up scaling. To confirm I went to 'http://www.google.com/' and simply hit 'print'. The resulting page was poster-scaled, with only 'Go' and part of the next 'o' visible at the edge. It was a full sheet of paper, just scaled up amazingly. I print to both these printers from a2ps, gimp, Evolution, and OpenOffice on a regular basis. Firefox is the only application having a problem.

To double-check this, I downloaded the deerpark-alpha-2 nightly build today (August 2nd) and this behaviour did NOT happen in the new build. I ran with a clean profile, printed several pages, they all scaled properly. So this looks like it'll be fixed in the 1.5 release.

Dave, can you or Sebastien, can you confirm that this bug is indeed fixed in Firefox 2.0.0.3 or later?

I'm sorry I can't confirm it because I'm running Mac OS X on a MacBook Intel now (I still have Ubuntu but not here)

I've tested this under 2.0.0.3 on Feisty Fawn, and it's now sizing correctly (Yay!). I don't know when the actual fix happened, but somewhere it did.
