"mailto:" hyperlinks do NOT open in Firefox

Firefox does NOT seem able to load any "mailto:" hyperlinks, instead, when one
clicks the link, an Internet Explorer window is loaded.

This problem occurs on a system which is using a Hotmail based web account. Is
there any fix available for this?

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Have a Hotmail account enabled as default e-mail provider
2. Click any <A href="mailto:email@email.com">A</A> hyperlink

Actual Results:  
Instead of Firefox loading the Hotmail program, Internet Explorer did

Expected Results:  
Load Hotmail in Firefox, so an e-mail can be sent
This is a issue with the application that sets hotmail as mailto: handler and
not with firefox itself.
