If one has registered for this site (the Finale Forums) and tries to log-in, the
site seems momentarily to accept one's user name and password, but switches back
to the log-in page as if one had not sumitted one's details. This misbehaviour
is Mozilla-specific. In Internet Explorer, one can log-in without trouble. (I
have not tried it with Safari or Firefox.)
I would prefer not to make my own user name and password public for testing
purposes, but if absolutely necessary I can do so.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Register for the Finale Forums on the given site and page.
2.Leave the site.
3.Return to the site and log-in page and enter the chosen user name and password.
Actual Results:
The site apparently accepts the log-in details, but a second or so later reverts
to the un-logged-in state.
Expected Results:
The site should have accepted the user name and password and one should have
remained logged-in so as to be able to post questions or answers in the Forums.

I have now tested this in the latest (1.0.4) version of Firefox, and the bug
does not appear; i.e. logging in works normally. In the earlier Mozilla build
20050425, the bug is present, so it is not a new one or a regression.

Firefox 1.0.4 is older than the build you reported this bug with...
Does this bug appear with Seamonkey 1.0a1 or Firefox 1.5b1?

Boris, Yes, the bug is still there in the build of SeaMonkey I am currently
using, namely 20050918.

Re Comment #5: I am not blocking cookies from this site. I am afraid I do not
know how to disable javascript, and I apologise, but I have not got time to set
up a new profile.

I have a profound apology to make for wasting people's time on this. There is no
such bug. I had allowed Password Manager to fill in my user name and password --
and it turns out that an extra space had crept into the spelling of my user
name. Most websites put up a message about an incorrect password or user name if
one makes such a mistake; this one doesn't: it just refuses to accept the
details, so I did not realize the mistake until just now, when I experimented
some more.
When I tried it in other browsers (FireFox, Safari), I typed in my details --
correctly! -- and, of course, the site accepted them.
Apologies again!
