User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4 Phenomenon : - Firefox starts showing weird behaviour : right to left typing, loading pages stops, ... - Closing Firefox destroys the UI but Firefox keeps running as a Windows process, consuming loads of memory Reproducible: Couldn't Reproduce No crash happens but Firefox remains in memory. It would be nice if there was some way to 'connect' to Firefox to query its memory or something.

Firefox cannot be restarted, at least its UI doesn't show up again after closure. The process keeps running in the taskbar.

Bugzilla is not for support and this works for many users. -> wfm uninstalling all extensions, Firefox safemode or a new profile should fix that. Please use the mozillazine.org Forums the next time if you have enduser questions.

I'm sorry ? Weird behaviour and a blatant memory leak are end-user questions ?

Firefox using memory is not a memory leak Firefox not releasing memory because the process has not shut down properly is not a memory leak. Since firefox works for millions and people who triage bugs see this type of comment all the time, the bug is marked WORKSFORME and you are asked to take your question to the support forums so triagers can get on with managing bugzilla. Most likely it is an extension problem or a problem with your system or something, eg: not a firefox bug per se.
