I upgraded to a new hard drive and 10.4.1 server and now I have no sound at all from netscape. Safari plays the embeded sound properly and so do PC users. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. install 10 client version of 10.4 server on a fresh drive and then install updates and mozilla. 2. go to http://robertdell.dyndns.org/errordocuments/404.shtml and wait for everything to load up. Listen for the sound effects. Actual Results: no sound Expected Results: i should have heard the file gbu.mp3 being played through the system's selected audio channel I checked flash sites that have sound and they reflect no sound either.

Hmm, does it happen with Firefox as well?
Robert, I recently encountered a similar problem with Firefox and Mozilla not playing embedded mp3 sounds after I installed the javaembedding plugin 0.93 on my iMac G4 running OSX 10.3.9. My solution was to remove the javaembedding plugin and install quicktime player 7.0.2 update. Your problem may not be related to the javaembedding plugin, but it is definitely related to the quicktime plugin. Reinstalling or upgrading quicktime player may fix it for you. Here are the links to my javaembedding plugin bug reports on sourceforge.net. You might find the information useful. https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=649116&aid=1288564&group_id=107955 https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=649116&aid=1286766&group_id=107955 Good luck, -Helene K.

I have the same problem in FireFox 1.6a1 in Linux (except there isn't a Quicktime plugin for the Linux version). I updated to the latest Flashplayer plugin, but still can't get sound from websites. Opera plays the sounds fine, and so did FF 1.0.4 so it's not an issue with my system.

After rebooting, sound seems to have returned. Not really sure what the cause was, but it may not lie strictly with Firefox.

(3 years later) No reply from reporter. SeaMonkey v1.0.x is not supported anymore. (Would have been "Incomplete", now is) R.Invalid Reopen if you can reproduce with SeaMonkey v1.1.9.
