Details

With a deadline being set at in two years or sooner, Camino should be built as a universal binary in Xcode,
working on Macs with PowerPC and Intel archatectures. Xcode 2.1 has already been released which
enables the option to build working apps on Intel and PowerPC versions of Mac OS 10.4. Will it be possible
to make Firefox compatable cross processor too?

Please file a new bug (or look for an existing) regarding Firefox's cross
compatibility. Also note: Apple developers already "ported" Firefox to the Intel
processors as a test subject. They submitted the patches to Mozilla for landing.
smfr says that there is a perl script which will let you build a gcc3.3/10.2SDK
version for PPC and a gcc4.0/10.4SDK version for intel and then mash them
together for a universal binary. doesn't solve all the problems, but helps a bit.
cc'ing simon
cc'ing myself and Mark; this just got a lot more important since Intel Macs are gonna be out in the wild by next month. Re-targeting for 1.1; if we can make 1.0, great, but I'm not holding my breath.

The iMacs are available now.
How badly would this affect compatibility for 10.2 and 10.3, however?

Not at all
mento, any reason this is not FIXED now, or do you want to use if for tracking patch migration to all the branches or something?
This is covered in 12 other places, but as far as 1.0 is concerned, it's a done deal.
