did you perhaps run out of disk space? if (instead of clicking ok) you look in the location it mentions, is the file there? Does the directory even exist?
(In reply to comment #1) > did you perhaps run out of disk space? > if (instead of clicking ok) you look in the location it mentions, is the file > there? Does the directory even exist? There is plenty of disk space. c:\windows\temp exists, but not the rest of the directory tree.

does any of the directory structure exist when the dialog pops up? It will probably clean up anything there after you hit "ok". Do you have write access to the directory (c:\windows\temp)?
I checked the directory before, during, and after the error message. The directory does not exist at any point Yes, I have write access to the directory. The name of the file that it is trying to install leads me to believe that it is a file for Windows XP (XPISTLIB.DLL), whereas the PC I'm trying to install on runs Windows 95. Could this be the issue?

no, xpistlib == XPI stub library, XPI = cross platform install but win95 could still be part of the problem... Mozilla gets very little testing with win95. Do you have the same problem if you try to install older releases?
I tried 1.7.7 with the same error, but haven't tried anything earlier. What was the last known good version for win95?

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01". This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code. While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug (given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more reproduction information if you have it. If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved. Thank you for your help in this matter.
