Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4

WHEN I OPEN FIREFOX FROM DESKTOP THE OS SCREEN COLOR SETTINGS CHANGE FROM
HIGHEST QUALITY (32 BIT) TO LOWEST QUALITY (8 BIT)CAUSING GRAINY PICTURES AND
BLACKED OUT ICONS.WHEN I CLOSE FIRE FOX IT GOES BACK TO HIGHEST QUALITY. THIS
DOES NOT HAPPEN WHEN I OPEN EXPLORER.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.DOUBLE CLICK FIRFOX DESKTOP ICON
2.
3.

Actual Results:
SCREEN GOES BLANK FOR 3 SECONDS THEN SHOWS DESKTOP AT LOWER QUALITY COLOR
SETTING THEN FIREFOX OPENS ALSO IN LOWER QUALITY COLOR SETTING

Expected Results:
OPENED FIREFOX AND NOT CHANGE COLOR SETTINGS

Sounds like a Problem with your Video Card/Video Driver.

Check the properties of the shortcut used to run firefox. There should be a
compatibility tab. Make sure none of the check boxes under display settings are
checked.

This is probably an invalid bug.

This has been encountered before on Mozillazine:
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=269142
I switched to the shortcut for Firefox and under properties found there was a
box checked for 256 colors. I removed the checkmark and the problem
disappeared. Duh !
It's unclear if the author of comment #3 is the original bug reporter, but regardless, WFM.
