There should be no error message
try in Firefox -safemode or with a new profile
Works fine with any version except Deer Park Alpha 1 or newer.

New profile does nothing. Safe mode it works fine.
borked profile....

go to http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_backup
and follow the backup instructions (make a copy of the indicated files)

than delete the current profile completely and start firefox
This will effectively create a completely new profile

close firefox again
now copy the older files into the new profile.

This means your extensions/themes will be gone, but all valuable data
(cookies/passwords/etc) will be there again.

Peter6, please don't close "borked profile" bugs as invalid: there may be real
problems lurking in the 1.0->1.1 upgrade process that we need to figure out and
solve.

I have the same problem with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US;
rv:1.8b3) Gecko/20050712 Firefox/1.0+ (Deer Park Alpha 2) after updating from
Deer Park Alpha 1. But the problem occurs radomly and not always.
