I am unclear as to whether this is a trademark violation. If it is not, please close this bug and leave a description of what *would* be a trademark violation. The website linked to contains a theme for the Maxthon IE extension. The them uses icons from Camino and Firefox and claims it's under the "GPL" license. If this is true and appropriate, great. However, I believe the Camino logo is trademarked and as such, this would be a violation of that trademark. Are the remaining icons, which are part of the Camino and Firefox projects, under any sort of protection? Or is this "fair use"? A second link* also shows the use of previous Camino (then Chimera) icons. * http://skins.maxthon.com/?id=23
I just sent the following message through their feedback form: Hello, The skin at: http://skins.maxthon.com/?id=131 is using the logo of the Mozilla Foundation's Camino browser project, as can be seen on http://www.caminobrowser.org. This logo is not available "under GPL licence" as the skin submitter claims. Please could you ask the submitter to modify his skin to remove the logo or, failing that, remove the skin from your download site? Many thanks, Gerv (mozilla.org)
The site has removed the offending Camino logo graphic. (Too bad there's nothing we can do about the icons.)
